Dissatisfied Telkom Customer
On the 23 May 2019 i purchased a Macbook Air laptop on contract from Telkom at the Tygervalley store. The laptop price at that stage was R14 999. The contract i entered into was for R599 over 36 months and it included the laptop as well as a modem with 10g data included. The laptop was specifically purchased for my daughter to use at Varsity. In September 2019 she complained that the laptop is giving problems. The Screen flickered and there was a green line at the top of the device. It continued to such an extent that in October i decided to take it to the Telkom store. I spoke to the sales agent and he informed me that he does not know what to do. I enquired from him what procedures there is in place if there is a faulty device taken to the store. He said that they take it in only if it was a phone. They did not know what to do in the case where a faulty laptop is brought to the store. I then ask to speak to the manager. The manager at that stage informed that he also did not know what to do but will find out and call me. He never did. I contacted the call centre various times and eventually after given various excuses i was informed to go back to the store. I went back to the store on 29 October 2019 and i spoke to a lady as the other manager was not on duty that day. She was very professional and the laptop was taken in and send for repairs. On the 6 November 2019 i got a message on my phone stating that THE DEVICE HAS BEEN DEEMED OUT OF WARRANTY AND HAS BEEN QUOTED FOR R16,106.46 incl VAT. PAYMENT TO BRADIAN LOGISTICS, According to the message a consultant will contact me. When i entered into this contract it was in good faith and with it the expectation that i am buying a quality product. I also expected great service from Telkom as i have been a loyal customer for many years. I am disgusted about the pathetic service that i have received from Telkom. The laptop itself has one user and was not damaged. Secondly the warranty expires 22 May 2020, how can it be deemed out of warranty. The best part of the whole course of events is a quote of more that the purchase price. Is this the quality of products and service that loyal loyal customers are exposed to.
I received the message with the uttermost contempt that it deserved.
How disgusting that loyal customers are subjected to this kind of treatment.
"Maggie" clearly has no concept of my previous mail content and thereof deems it in order to give me a "brushoff" response. She made no effort to read the email and to investigate.
If she did then she should KNOW that the laptop is NOT in my POSSESSION as it was SEND by TELKOM for repairs. She should also know that i received a QUOTE for the repairs as TELKOM DEEMED IT OUT OF WARRANTY.
WHERE THE LAPTOP currently is is only known by TELKOM.
Yesterday i got a missed call identified by true caller as from Huawei repairs and a inaudible voice message from the number. My daughter received a call from the same number and spoke to a lady stating that she was calling on behalf of TELKOM repairs regarding the QUOTE. My daughter informed her that she should call me but i have yet to hear from this person.
" Maggie" expects me to take a laptop not in my possession to ISTORE with whom i HAVE NO CONTRACT. THEN I HAVE TO DELIBERATE WITH A REP TO TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS. REALLY!!
Telkom represented by "Maggie and the lady from the repair centre express two different views.
"Maggie" says that the laptop is still under warranty and the repair centre deemed it out of warranty.
I am a paying customer and i am being deprived of my use of a device that i am paying for due to TELKOM selling me a defective laptop. Telkom customer service more pathetic than ever.
