I had lodged a claim for a ****** device some time back. The claim was authorized and I unfortunately took ill and was hospitalized for almost 2 months. I received an sms while in hospital stating that the claim would be finalized/canceled if the excess is not paid within 90 days since the date authorized.. If my memory serves me well. This was the first and last time I was ever made aware of this. Now working in Insurance myself I told myself I will deal with this when I get discharged. It shouldn't be an issue for the claim to be reopened and for me to get indemnified if I have passed the the 90 days. The week I was discharged I ensured that the excess was paid and I received a response stating that the Proof of payment was received and that my consultant would call me to advise of the way forward. Now my consultant being Monique didn't call back to no surprise to me as I have been the one calling and following up anyway. I caed in to check what's happening and I spoke to another different lady who advised that I should email my proof of banking and stuff so they can refund me, I asked why she said the claim has been canceled and referred me to the sms I was sent. I asked her if she means that I will not get indemnified for my loss and without shame she said yes. Now please bear in mind that I have been paying my premiums without fail till to this date. When I asked about the premiums that I have paid since the loss and received a simple "cancel your policy" as a response. Now this will mean that Telkom and admin plus have been taking my money for nothing. I ask that they 1. Indemnify me for loss/2. Refund me my premiums since the loss and my excess amount and cancel my policy/3. Last option we take this matter to the ombudsman's office. I believe insurance is there to Indemnify us for loss not cause us more headache and frustration. To add to my Frustration Telkom the company I signed a contract with tell me they can't assist, I asked that a supervisor call me and till today no call.
