On Sunday, 3rd of March, my mother and I paid a visit to the Telkom store in Cityview Mall previously known as Game City Mall. Upon arrival, we received assistance from a gentleman by name of Bongumusa. He explains their Wi-Fi deals and we decide to opt for a home router. We then proceed to do the paperwork and everything goes well. My mother explained to the consultant that she resides 500km away so I will be collecting the router when it arrives. She also explains that she is just the account holder, I am the recipient of the services. Bongumusa says that's fine and it's not against their company policy. On Wednesday, 6 March, I call the store and it goes unanswered. I keep trying, until I got lucky hours later. Spoke to a colleague of Bongumusa's who took my contact details and reassured me that I will get a call back when he returns. I got no call back. Thursday, 7 March, I call and call but to no avail. Friday, 8 March, I call again and I speak to the same colleague of Bongumusa's that I spoke to two days ago. I explain to him that I called and he promised me I'd get a call back from my consultant. He takes my details. Fast forward to an hour later, Bongumusa calls me and casually says my router has arrived the previous day - DIDN'T BOTHER TO NOTIFY ME. He then asks if I have a letter from my mother authorising me to do the collection. I remind him that he did not mention anything like that on Sunday. He says it's fine, I must bring a copy of my mother's ID as well as mine. Within an hour, I was inside the store. I approach Bongumusa and he sends me off to another consultant, who assists me and explains everything about the router. She then says it will only be connected the next morning. At this point I'm so annoyed cos I really need this router, I have school work to do. Saturday morning, my router is still not connected. I call and call and call, I already knew that no one would answer but I was trying to save myself a trip going there. I finally decide to drive there. The same lady who assisted me with my collection, attends to my query. She seemed surprised as to why the router isn't connected because Bongumusa has my paperwork and he's my consultant so everything is basically in his hands. They take my documents (mom's ID and mine) and the device. They call Bongumusa who is not at work. Next thing, they bring my documents back without my device. TO SAY I AM LIVID WOULD BE AN UNDERSTATEMENT at this point. Apparently Bongumusa was not supposed to give me the device without my mother's consent and the router had not been approved inside the store. All they could offer me as an apology and there's nothing they can do for me. So I drove, using MY petrol, to give them back their device basically. I am appalled at their customer services. My journey has barely begun with Telkom but I'm already exhausted. I made three trips in one week to the same place but still no services. I was promised a call as soon as everything is approved. I'm not sure even sure that will happen, I can assure you I will call before they do.
