Did Telkom ***** My Money?
So Telkom decided not to debit my account in August because there was apparently no money in my account to debit from. Here's what happened: I get paid on the 25th of each month and myself and Telkom agreed that they will debit my account on the 25th of each month. Now the 25th fell on a Saturday in August this year and I believe they don't debit over the weekend. Fine. But Telkom never informed me that they never debited my account, so the amount owing carried over the next few months without my knowledge until I had a look at my statement and saw that I owe more than usual. I was first under the impression that someone in our household overused the house phone, hence the hectic bill. So when I queried it, I was told that I never had money in my account on the 24th August 2018, which is true because as mentioned earlier I get paid on the 25th. They never informed me at all that payment was not received and that I should do a manual payment, which I had no problem with, but they simply never told me anything.
Here's the best part of all of this. Last month (October 2018) I received and SMS from Telkom saying their having issues with their systems and that they'll debit my account on the 31st October 2018. Fine. So the debit order went off of R300 and I paid an additional R300 a few days into November 2018 at Pick n Pay. I then received a statement on the 5th November and it did not show the additional payment I made, meaning I still owe them for the previous months bill, meaning they never took my additional payment into account. So, Telkom, what happened to my payment? Why was it not taken into account? Please get back to me ASAP, I do not want to take this further, I just want this resolved. If this is not resolved, I will report this to the ombudsman.
