Deplorable service
<p>I app**** for an ADSL line in February which was installed in March. Since day 1 the service was atrocious. Most times one is not even able to do a speed test through the SAIX web site. The servce times out. If one is able to run a speed test the line runs at no more than 0.2 - 0.4 Mb/s and it is supposed to be a 2.0 Mb/s line. That is what I am paying for. I have complained numerous times but al that the support staff are saying is that the line tests okay. Thee is a support tcket registered against this complaint that has been logged on 14 April and it is still open and no-one is doing anything about this. The last agent that I spoke to told me that it is a "DSLAM" fault which means it is in the local exchange. However, nothing is being done and now I am using my cell phone data and smart phone as a modem, while I am paying Telkom for nothing!!!</p>

Whoever gave you this "congested" story is blowing smoke. I'm located in Pilgrim's Rest. This is a small village in Mpumalanga, not a large metropolitan area with thousands of users. In fact, there are exactly seven ADSL users going through this local DSLAM. I can give you their names if you need that. Can seven users congest a DSLAM to the extent that a 2.0Mb/s line only runs at less than 0.4 Mb/s? Be that as it may, then what am I paying Telkom for? Since I am aware of Telkom's deplorable reputation, I distincty asked the sales person, when I app**** for the line, whether Telkom can deliver me with an up-to-standard service. She assured me that that would definitely be the case. You can go and check this fact since you are recording all conversations. To tell me that no ETR is available for the resolution of this problem is typical of Telkom's arrogant and disinterested attitude towards its customers. Anyway let me see if I can get hold of the email address of your CEO. Maybe if I go that route, it will help.
