Departmental EGOS-NO SERVICE

On the 11/08/2022 I called Telkom 081180 to cancel(ref***5) my Sim card as my phone was ****** on 06/08/2022. Sim card was on contract for my WIFI and the phone I bought for cash around 2017.

The agent that assisted me told me to go to the nearest Telkom shop to do a sim swap, and I should bring along my ID and proof of address. Around 16:00 I drove from Odendaalsrus to Welkom and arrived a the store (Telkom Goldfields Mall) at 16:30, I was assisted by a lady called Pretty Thabatha, she did everything to the point that she asked me for police affidavit, I explained that I don’t have it as I was not advised about it when I called. She told me that “ Call centre agent don’t do sim swap and don’t do how to do a sim swap I explain that I don’t work at Telkom, she told me they are closing around six, gave me direction to police station. I walked 200m to police station, the queue was long as people came for certification. I then called 081180(option 3) for clarity, I spoke to Francina, who told me I was supposed to be assisted without affidavit because the contract in in my name, I asked if she cant call the store she said “no” and provided me with the email for complaints. After 5 min I called 10210 option 6 (retention department), I spoke to the lady there, who told me that the affidavit are for when one is claiming from the insurance and I should go back to the store and call when in store, I went back, It was about 17:50 and Pretty was assisting the client till 18:32. She came and I explain to her, she went to her supervisor and I tried to call 10210 but my call was out of service time. I explain my story to the Supervisor, MR Thabo Lepeli , who said “ let me tell you the rules of the store, I’m not going to help you, I need that affidavit” I thanked him and I left the store at 18:35.

I pay my premium and Telkom provide a service, which they did not. All I got was egos, to me everyone I spoke to is Telkom, Im shocked that I got different advices. I left the store embarrassed as the supervisor raised his voice to make a point. Petrol is expensive. I need a sim card, I need a service that I have paid for please.
