DEFECTIVE DEVICE AND STAFF!
I was due for an early upgrade on 21 July 2019, I went to your Tygervalley branch that didn't have stock of the P30 lite , I then went to Cape Gate and was told the same thing, they dont have stock of the phone I want( I wanted this specific phone as it came with a radio which is a very important function on a phone for me) and that they could see that Century City branch has stock and advised me to go there. I went to Century City and was assisted by a consultant Maggie that kept on scratching in her mouth and shot whatever she found in her teeth to the side of the counter( by this time i was beyond disgusted and really just wanted the phone and to leave) anyway, I got the Huawei P30 lite and left. I noticed the phone's battery didn't last long, which isnt normal as confirmed by Huawei and returned it 3 days later. As I explained to the consultant that assisted me that the phone battery only lasts a few hours he said he will go speak to his manager. The manager came and told me they have stock of the phone, but couldnt give me a replacement immediately as they only had blue in the device and I had a black phone, even though it was the same make and model. The manager said they calling another store in Milnerton to ask for stock as they can see they have but apparently couldnt get hold of the branch manager as ALL branch managers was in this "meeting" so they told me they will call when I can return to their branch for a replacement. Explaining that Century city is quite a distance from my home and that I couldn's just come to the store everytime fell on deaf ears. The manager came and said he cant do anything for me. ( I am still wondering how this man became a manager when he couldnt even manage to assist me with my issue or provide me with any kind of customer service? great calibre of staff right there). I left the store very unhappy about the situation. No one called the alternative number I provided them with. I tried calling the store but there is no landline to take calls so I went back( because Telkom thinks I have petrol for days) on Friday, 2 August 2019. As I got to the front of the store I explained the story again to the consultant in front she told me she will get someone to assist me with my repair?? as if I wasn't descriptive enough in my conversation with her. I asked her if they have the P30lite in stock and she said no but they do have the P20 mate???? ( I can only pray this woman has been given some sort of training in the last 3 days) I told her I wanted to speak to a manager because the service I was receiving was pathetic and I couldn't be any longer without a phone, she went to the back room and came back saying the manager wasn't available ( once again, how did this man become a manager???) she then said she will speak to her colleague Grant van Niekerk and he will assist me. Grant called me over to his counter and then done something out of the ordinary.... HE ACTUALLY PROVIDED ME WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. He explained the process to me, kept me up to date with what he was doing and done his best to calm the situation, within a few minutes he gave me my new phone. So as I got home, I noticed the phone does NOT have a radio on it? I checked with 4 other people that has the exact same phone and their phones all have the radio function. So now I have to waste some more money on Petrol to drive to Century City to return a device that dont have a feature that it is advertised to have. I have to waste more data to download everything again to a new phone? I get that manufacturer defects isn't the store's fault, but the staff is so unhelpful and the process does not benefit me, THE CLIENT. I am disappointed by this whole mess and how badly inconvenienced I have been by Telkom. I have been with Telkom for so many years and I am now doubting this decision. I am supposed to pay for a service I am not receiving and that is not fair. I am logging this complaint as I plan on escalating this to Icasa and higher if need be. I have been badly inconvenienced by Telkom and expect some sort of resolution before the first 7 days of returning a new phone expires.
