Deception by Telkom

Yet another complaint about Telkom. I was a Telkom ADSL customer. In October 2019 I was called a sales agent of Telkom informing me that Telkom is moving away from the copper network and that I should move to the LTE Network at no extra cost to me. Ion ADSL I had an uncapped 10mbps line as I use the data for streaming from Showmax and Netflix. I advised the sales agent of this and specifically asked her if I would get the exact same service in terms of speeds and throttling. I advised her further that I never reached the point where my line would be throttled. She confirmed that the package and service would be the same, perhaps even better. On that basis I agreed. Telkom sent me a SIM card and a free modem. As soon as I was switched over, I was impressed. The speeds were almost consistent. However, my joy was short lived as two weeks into the service, I notice much slower speeds. By the third week, the download speeds were less than 1mbps. I called Telkom thinking there was a fault, I was informed that there was no fault but that my line was being throttled as I had reached the cap in terms of the fair usage policy. Bear in mind, on ADSL I had never reached this cap. I was referred to the sales team. I was then informed that I had reached the cap and my line was being throttled. I was told that on LTE the cap Is 150gb and on ADSL it was 450gb. So, the deception was revealed. The sales agent ****. The package and service was not the same. I was told to send an email to *** and explain my problem. I sent the email on Thursday last week (2020/01/16) and received an email acknowledging receipt of my email. It’s been a week, and still haven’t heard from Telkom. Telkom if you’re reading this, please rectify and stop deceiving customers.
