Debt from 13k to over 50k in just over 2 years???!!!

Due to unforseen events I was unable to pay my Telkom account in 2014. Things have since changed. I was contacted yesterday by Debt-in to inform me that my Telkom account outstanding amount is over R50,000! I requested a credit record in May 2016 and Telkom was listed as R13,920-00. I requested a statement from Debt-in and still haven't received it. How can a debt increase from 13k to over 36k in two years?? Please explain!

I have called Telkom and it was confirmed that i actually don't owe Telkom any money!

So it seems as if Telkom made an error.

I do in fact owe them 13220.00

However Debt In informed me that it is over 50,000!

How can this be???
