Debit order still taking my money TWO MONTHS after cancellation of contract.
I cancelled my monthly renewable FreeMe sim only family package on 30 November 2017 as, contractually, a calendar month's notice is required for cancellation. We immigrated at the end of December, hence the cancellation. Note that I physically called Telkom, before sending the cancellation notice, to check that I was completing the correct form and sending it to the correct email address.
After numerous emails to the cancellations department and to a person by the name of Pinky Hadebe, who even requested that I send proof of the cancellation request again and again, I was still billed a subscription fee for January 2018 and for February 2018. I assume that I will be billed again in March 2018 as I have had no feedback or response from Telkom after numerous attempts via email. The customer service number cannot be called from overseas, so email is my only resort .
The person by the name of Pinky Hadebe responded from a personal business email address in January 2018, requested proof my cancellation request, which I sent to her together with all the subsequent correspondence highlighting that my bank account was still being debited.
All my subsequent correspondence has gone to both the Cancellations email address as well as Pinky Hadebe, requesting my refund, yet absolutely NO response whatsoever from Telkom to date.
The next step, I presume, is legal action for a refund as well as damages incurred due to Telkom debiting my bank account that only has enough funds to pay VALID expenses that I have in South Africa after our immigration.
And to think that I promoted Telkom's service after taking up a monthly renewable contract in June 2017, instead of upgrading our Vodaphone contracts pending our immigration plans!
