Debit order details

I closed my bank account and had to move my Telkom debit order to my new bank account. I phoned Telkom in December 2016 in order to update the details and was advised that as I had missed the cut over date for that month, and that Telkom would only debit my new account in January 2017.

January came and went and Telkom had not correctly moved my banking details across to the new account. I contacted them again at the beginning of February and was advised that the original consultant had not done the change correctly. I had to pay the outstanding balance manually and was assured that the details were now updated correctly, witht he debit order definitely coming off for the payment at the end of February 2017.

It is now 3 March, and I have just spoken to Telkom again, as once AGAIN, they tried to debit the wrong account - an account that was closed in January.

Apparently the debit order is now going to come off the my new (and only) account at the end of March. I find this highly unlikely based on their previous assurances.

In the interim, apparently I will be charged penalties for a bounced debit order - I find this highly unacceptable. Why am I being held liable financially for something I have advised Telkom about several times, and had assurances from 3 different call centre agents that the details have been processed and updated on my profile.

Completely unacceptable.
