Debit error at Telkom causes loss for client.

December 2017 – an amount of R 1152 was manually paid (by me) after a consultant informed me to pay this amount.

Yesterday (24/01/2018), my line got blocked. I then called and spoke to another consultant, she said that the consultant that spoke to me in December (saying that I need to pay R1152) was giving me the incorrect information. She also informed me that the amount I was supposed to pay was around R1800.

She then said that I am in arrears with an amount of R660.63 which needs to be paid before my line gets unblocked. The funny thing is that I went to my SMS inbox and saw that I received an SMS on the 1st of Jan saying that an amount of R660.63 would be debited from my account on the 5th of Jan. NO debit was done.

I then went to a Telkom store, (after standing in a line for more than 50 min), and I was informed that there was an issue with the debits during the end of last month and the beginning of this month. This means that the fact that my line is currently suspended is because of a fault/error at Telkom.

It has now been off for more than 24hours and I still have not received any feedback from Telkom. This is now affecting my work and the thing that bothers me is that NO notifications was sent saying that I am in arrears. NO notifications were sent saying that my line would be cut? Now they expect me to go and do a manual payment in order for my line to be unsuspended? They were at fault and I will not clean up their mess! What I want Telkom to do is to arrange the debit to go off ASAP. In the meantime, I want my line to be unsuspended during the course of today (25/01/2018) in order for me NOT to go to the Ombudsman and other social media platforms.
