Dead landline

I reported my mom's and neighbours DEAD landlines on 24 Sept. Yesterday I went to Telkoms Cresta office. They logged a repeat on ref nr ***0 and ***5. The call centre lady (who was very helpful) informed today me that the numbers are still 'with the service centre' (???) where they are trying to find the problem. Almost 10 days later.....that is a long time for elderly people to be cut off from their means of connecting with others. PLEASE Telkom, surely you can do better than this! These old people have been Telkom clients for as long as they can remember....
