CREDIT SCORING AFFECTED NEGATIVELY

I would like to know. I app**** for a cellphone contract with Telkom. I received a notification that a credit enquiry was done and this I accepted. However they did a total of 5 inquiries on my credit profile 2 on the 4, 2 on the 5 and 1 on the 6. I'm being sent from pillar to post and no one can assist me. My score went from 640 to 605 because of their inquiries. How can this be possible if i only app**** for one contract and 5 inquiries was done
