Credit Listing after cancellation and no service
I took out a 10meg per second ADSL uncapped line with Telkom toward the beginning of last year. I took a phone line with this package. The phone line hardly worked as there was so much interference you could never hear anyone on the line, and the internet speed tests never went over 2 meg a second. They came out to try fix the line but nothing ever worked.
The internet was useless and expensive, you could hardly download a image nevermind stream anything at almost R1000per month. I complained numerous times and the response was just 'you are far from the exchange, and thats why you get such bad speed'.
I eventually decided to cancel the line as it was totally useless and I was not getting any of the perks that I was paying for. After almost a month of struggling, I eventually managed to get Telkom to take notice of cancellation on the account, where with they even stopped providing the service on the line, which I then had to pay for (a month of being cut off). After cancellation they still carried on charging me. After many disputes and phone calls, I gave up. They have now listed it on my credit report as 'Bad Debt written off'. I was warned to not take up anything with Telkom, but I didn't listen. It is an awful company to try do any business with. I trust someone will call me to get this sorted out and get this off my credit report. It is totally ******** that you can expect a client to keep paying for a service you are not giving and then proceed to list them on ITC, and I know there are thousands of ex clients like me.
