Coverage and Contract cancellation

The network was very unstable and recently there is no coverage in my area, a technician was send over an his router wasn't working too. When i requested a contract cancellation, i was told i will need to settle the remaining monthly fee of my contract and a cancellation fee of R1800 and R1440 for the router. Basically i must carry on paying for service i am not using.
