I was referred to you by Xoliswa and hope against hope that you will treat my complaint with the seriousness and compassion it deserves.
I am truly livid at the way I have been treated by Telkom.
Not only have you debited my account a day before the date I agreed to but the way you have chosen to justify it is truly mind boggling.
I have never come across a company that cares less for its customers, than Telkom.
You behave as if you are in a contract by yourselves and really don't care what I as the customer think and feel.
I have always paid my account on time and in full every single month for the past almost a year.
Last month you decided, WITHOUT consent from me, to run your debit order on 24 August 2018, a day before the day l agreed to with your sales agent at Eastgate Shopping Centre.
This has resulted in 3 negative financial impacts to me:
1) I was charged R100 by my bank for a bounced debit order 2) A negative impact on my Credit Score 3) An apparent R200 penalty by Telkom for the bounced debit order
The one that really irritates me is the third one.
Why would you want to charge me, let alone a whole R200 for a mess that you created especially as you debited my account again on 31 August 2018 and received your money.
What loss did you incur?
On phoning your totally inept call centre and speaking to an equally inept Team Leader I was arrogantly told:
1) Refer to your Terms and Conditions 2) Telkom can, at their sole discretion, decide whether to debit my account a day before or a day after the date i agreed to 3) Telkom's action was justified as the 25th fell on a Saturday 4) It doesn't have to make sense to me for Telkom to deduct money on a day before when I get paid as long as it makes sense to Telkom
Yesterday I received an invoice for R1400 odd which Telkom INSTRUCTED me they will deduct from my account on 25 September 2018. Again I am told of something i did not agree to, NOT asked. When I called in just now I was told the amount is actually R800 odd. Do you not know what you are doing as an Accounts department?
Nobody at Telkom, at any stage bothered to pick up the phone and have the courtesy to speak to me to alert me that something had gone wrong.
Instead Telkom's justification is that they sent me an invoice and somewhere on that invoice they advised me that they would be debiting me on 24 August 2018. AGAIN this was an instruction to me, not a request.
Now when this contract was sold to me it was done verbally. There was absolutely no mention of the NONSENSE I am now so arrogantly being told about.
I would imagine that something as important as financial implications should have been discussed with me by the sales agent and not hidden away in your Terms and Conditions which you are now hiding behind.
In my industry that is what is called "Selling by documents" which is a dishonest form of sales.
I would have told your sales agent the obvious - that i chose the debit date i did because i know that is the date I would have money on a monthly basis and that i do NOT AGREE to be debited the day before BECAUSE I WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT HAVE MONEY.
I would like for once to be treated like a valued customer and have this resolved forthwith.
DO NOT DARE DEDUCT R800 from my account as i did not agree to that.
I would like a response from you forthwith that this query has been resolved together with confirmation in writing, that you will be debiting me the agreed R633 going forward including 25 September 2018 and that if the 25th falls on a Saturday you will deduct AFTER AND NOT BEFORE the 25th.
I will also be publishing this on social media as Telkom has gotten away with this shameful treatment of its customers for too long.
