Copper Cable Theft - Telkom has no solution!
Our internet service went down at home since 18 Oct 2018, I logged a fault and they advised me that a technician would come out within 48 hrs. Days went by and no one pitched up, so I contacted the call centre again and they had advised me that there was Copper Cable Theft in my area and that Telkom will not be replacing it. Every attempt to resolve this issue has been made from my side through endless calls and not once has Telkom attempted to contact me.
My argument is that we entered into a binding 24-month contract with Telkom for internet services, if I had defaulted on my account Telkom would apply penalties yet it is easy for them to default by not wanting to replace the copper cables and just expect us to jump onto a LTE contract that is way more expensive? Telkom has failed to meet their obligation to provide us with internet services for 24 months at the ADSL uncapped premium we are paying.
You would assume that for the inconvenience caused Telkom would provide us with a LTE option at the same price that we are currently paying, however all that you get from the contact centre is "sorry we can't do that". I am applaud by the service I have received and till date we haven't found a solution to this problem - we just keep getting pushed into an LTE contract that is not budget-friendly.
I have been with Telkom for many years, but after this experience I wouldn't recommend anyone to Telkom.
