Contracts and the CPA

The Consumer Protection Act says that any fixed term contract may be cancelled with a "reasonable" penalty by giving 20 business days notice. The staff at the Walmer Park Telkom store have "never heard" of the CPA. I was trying to cancel my LTE contract and buy a new uncapped ADSL contract. Both with Telkom mind you. I was told I would have to pay them the FULL amount of EACH remaining month PLUS a cancellation penalty! "Reasonable"? So what do I do now?

Telkom responded above and sent me an email confirming their ******* approach to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act. When I rep**** to their email with a specific request to quantify and justify their response I was not answered. This is quite typical of the company who thereby appear to respond to the customer complaint in the public forum but in effect do nothing.
