Contract declined for a small amount

I went online to apply for a contract, the Huawei P smart for R199 P/M with the Chineese new year deal. I submitted all my details and a rep phonede today confirming all my details. He did mention that I do qualify for the deal and even asked me what colour device I wanted. I did give him the colour and he seemed quite professional. I then get an SMS stating my contract has been declined with credit vetting. Maybe I missed out something but I am sure the guy told me that I do qualify and asked me some verification questions and questions about my credit. Secondly the contract is only R199P/M. I have had contracts with values of R480P/M with Cell C with no issue. I was also earning way less back then. If Telkom does not want our business I would rather cancel my prepaid Sim cards as well and move to another network provider and pay a little more to get a contract. I would understand being declined for a more expensive contract but for a mere R199 it is really disappointing. I can even pay full for the device but obviously the deal that you are offering is good
