I put in an application for residential move at the beginning of August 2016 via the Telkom website which said I will be contacted in 2 days. I was never contacted so I called Telkom at the end of August to follow up. The 1st person I spoke to said they cannot find my address and there is nothing they can do. The 2nd person I spoke to said there is no infrastructure for the landline & adsl line.
After this, I went to the Telkom store who said they didnt understand why the call centre said there is no infrastructure and there was nothing on the system, so she logged an application to move the line.
On 12 September 2016 I received an sms saying they will do the installation on the 27th. On the 20th I then received another sms saying the installation will be done on the 22nd?? When the technician arrived he was there for 5 minutes and said there was nothing he could do as there is no infrastructure.
I then spoke to the Walmer Park branch manager, Marina Serfontein, who said the underground cable is faulty (so is there infrastructure??). They could never tell me when it would be fixed.
This backwards and forwards (while still getting debited) went on and on and I never got any result so I cancelled my service and requested a credit. I was told that there is a credit, but I never received it.
Since I needed internet I had to get an LTE contract as this infrastructure is either non existent or faulty???
Everything seemed to be going ok (although I still dont have my credit) a few months ago I get a debit on my account that is not linked to my LTE contact. I phoned them to ask about this and got told my line was cancelled, but my data was not cancelled. After getting put through to multiple departments - sales, mobile, residential (all saying that they can't help me) - I found out that there is a credit although I was told multiple different amounts (R1500, R2000, R3000) and the data portion was then cancelled.
It seems like my line has finally been cancelled, however I still dont have a credit for all the funds Telkom stole from me more than a year later.
Moral of the story, stay away from Telkom who lock you into contracts and then never give you service and ***** your money.
There is a reason why they are referred to as "Hellkom".
