Concern Over Repeated Unauthorised Debit Amounts

I am escalating a serious concern regarding the recurring debit amounts being taken from my account by Telkom.

The service provider has repeatedly debited an amount higher than what was agreed. When I query these unauthorised/inaccurate deductions, I am given the same explanation: that there were insufficient funds in my account at the time the debit was processed.

This explanation is not correct. I have checked my banking records and there were sufficient funds available in my account at the relevant times. I therefore find it extremely concerning that the same explanation continues to be given despite the account having sufficient funds.

What concerns me even more is the recurring pattern. After I contact the service provider and raise the issue, the debits appear to return to the correct amount for a month or two. Thereafter, the higher debit amounts start happening again, followed by the same explanation that there were supposedly insufficient funds.

I have also raised this matter with my bank. During my interaction with the bank, the consultant advised me that they have received similar complaints from other customers regarding this service provider and the same issue of incorrect/higher debit amounts. This has significantly increased my concern that this may not simply be an isolated administrative error.

At this point, the repeated nature of the issue, the incorrect explanation being provided, and the fact that other customers have reportedly raised similar concerns make me question whether there are irregular practices taking place with these debit orders.

I am raising this publicly because I have already attempted to resolve the matter directly, yet the same issue continues to occur.

I am not making a definitive allegation of *****, but the circumstances are serious enough to warrant a proper investigation into whether there are unauthorised, irregular or potentially *****ulent debit practices occurring.
