My phone fell and I called the Call Centre at Telkom. I was greeted by a very friendly person and helpful (Unfortunately I didn't get her name), but that is where it ended.
On Sunday 27/08/2017 I called Telkom and reported that my phone fell and the screen was busted. I was told by the agent that my phone is under warranty and that I can take it into any store. On the 29/08/2017 I took the phone to Cavendish Square to book it in for repairs.
I received a quote for R 9500.00 on the 07/09/2017 from a repair company. I was then told that the repair is an out of warranty repair. I then called on the 07/09/2017 the Call Centre again at 10:32 am and spoke to Nontobeko. As I explained the story she referred me to the repairs or Sales department. She also started becoming rude and wouldn't listen to what I had to say, when I asked to speak to a Supervisor, I was told that they only start at 11 am. This I couldn't understand, as I worked in a call centre before and there was always a supervisor available at all times. She then said that she would have a supervisor call me by 11 am. So I waited...
I called again at 12:08 pm and this time spoke to Pakiso, explained the story again, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that the supervisor would call after listening to the initial call. The turnaround time I was given was for the same day (07/09/2017). So I waited... On Saturday 09/09/2017 I went to the Telkom store at N.1 City Mall and spoke to Donae .
I wanted the contact details of the Call Centre Manager, she could not give the information as she did not know who it was. I gave her the name of Pakiso; and Donae messaged her. I asked for a copy of the message, but I was l told that it was a messenger service they have as staff. Donae said that she would call me, on my girlfriend's number, to find out if anyone contacted me, I am still waiting for a call.
I think I have waited long enough, I need someone to sort this out. It is ridiculous to pay R 9500.00 for the repairs of a phone, when you could buy a new one for that price. Why would you say that my phone is under warranty and then when you supposed to fix it you turnaround and say that it is out of warranty. Not only that you have to fight to actually get service, but Telkom is quick to take your money every month for the contract and the phone.
