Changing my Telkom cell contract tellephone number

I got a Telkom contract this past December. I wanted to Keep my old cell phone number so I went about ending the contract and having it changed over to prepaid so that it could be "ported".

Then last week I called the call center to confirm all the necessary documents needed to have my number changed.

I proceeded to the shop last week Thursday (25/01/2018). I gave my old number ( the one I wanted to keep) so that I could receive the confirmation sms. After not receiving it after 15 min they continued with a processes (not sure what it is called but as I understand it is to bypass the sms). I was then promised that my new sim card would have the old number within 24-48 hours. It has now almost been a week and nothing has happened.

All I ask is that someone please assist in this situation as i need to receive notifications on my old number.
