Change of contract terms without client consent

My name is Akinlawon Amoo. I have two data contracts with Telkom. One for me and one for my wife. The one for me is the Internet 5 promo and the one for my wife is Smartinternet 5Gb + Sim only. Each cost R199. The one for me expired in 2014 but before it did, I called to ask if I could keep it on a month-to-basis and if the price remains the same. I was told I could keep it on month-to-month and they the price stays at R199. Since September 2014, I have had it on month-to-month till date. The one for my wife expired in November 2016 . In December Telkom debited R1056 from my account instead of the usual R398 (for both contracts). I reversed the payment and paid the usual R398. When I called in to enquire about the huge debit (spoke to two guys), the first (Gershween) didn't even understand what he was telling me. The second guy (Mandla Shange) said I was incorrectly billed, gave me a reference number ( ********** 7) and told me the matter will be resolved. After more than a week, no response, so I called tonight, spoke to a Nobuhle Nzuza who told me after asking me to hold to enquire on my account that the contracts duration lapsed and now Telkom is charging me for the real value of the data. This is so absurd and ********** in my book. First, I wasn't told (not by email, sms or phone-call) that the contract value will change after the contract expiry. Second, the billing is now being app**** even to the first contract that expired two years ago and have been on month-to-month basis. Why didn't anybody tell me this, why didn't they keep their data? This is unacceptable. I want the data contracts cancelled with immediate effect. I will find data elsewhere. I will not pay Telkom any absurd price that I didn't agree to. The reason we switched to Telkom was because we thought them cheap and reliable. It appears they are now no longer what we thought they were. I will wait for their explanation and apology.
