Cellphone Contract Cancellation

Cellphone Contract Cancellation On 27 October I renewed my cellphone contract at Telkom store Adderley Street, Cape Town. During the process I was informed that the devise does not have a Google play store, but that the general Apps like WhatsApp would be accessible. Once I received the phone, I realized my sim card data would not populate on the phone locally. In addition, any new contacts added to the devise contact list does not reflect in WhatsApp. On 30 October, less than 48hours later I informed the sales consultant Amier Sieed of my dissatisfaction and duly informed him to cancel my contract. During this call he guaranteed a resolution but would instead never bother to call me back as promised to this day. On the same day a junior consultant (Saadiq) contacted me but I advised to call 180 to log the issue myself. The call centre then informed me that it was an issue for the store to resolve since my product was not ordered online. In conclusion, after no feedback from the store I tried to reach a manager to no avail. I left my details and received a call back 5 hours later. During this call the manager arrogantly informed me that I signed a contract and that he has no use for a secondhand phone. Even after I threatened legal action and the consumer ombudsman, he unwaveringly said that it might be my only recourse. Also, why is there no way one can contact the Telkom head office? I want this contract cancelled so I can take a different phone that will do what I need. Danilo Hendricks ***
