Cancelling a service

My mother has to be moved to another facility as she has become very frail. The decision to move her was made recently as the decline has been rapid. She has a landline where she is now. Her account has always been paid on time and the full amount. When we phoned the Call Centre to try and cancel her service as she will no longer be in the same facility we were told that it can only be done in a months time. How is that possible? If one's account has not been paid you are very quick to suspend the service. We are fully prepared to pay the rental for one more month, but to inform us it will take a month to cut the line... Really? I am publicly stating that should the next person who will move into her flat use her landline and run up the costs I WILL NOT HONOUR THE ACCOUNT! I will pay the rental for the month but not a single cent for any calls that is made as from 31 March 2015.

TELKOM PLEASE TAKE NOT - ANY COSTS AFTER 31 MARCH 2015, OTHER THAN THE RENTAL WILL NOT BE PAID BY ME.
