CANCELLATIONS OF DATA SIM AND HARRESSMENT OF CLIENT WITH POOR SERVICE.

Telkom is the absolute worse. This is what transpired: Subject: Complaint Regarding Unfair Treatment by Telkom - Data Service Contract

What can I do as a customer to address the unfair treatment I've experienced from Telkom regarding my data service contract?

I signed a contract for R99.00 last year for a specific amount of data monthly. However, the contract amount increased without any prior notification. I continued paying until I was unable to keep up and paid when I could. The arrears continued to accumulate. On the 11th of September 2024, Telkom debited R469.51 from my account, and within the same month, I began receiving multiple demands:

1) Section 129 notice on the 30th of September 2) Notice of listing on the credit bureau on the 3rd of October 3) Notice of judgment on the 4th of October 4) Final reminder of listing on the 7th of October.

I had already made the payment on the 11th of September, which reduced the outstanding balance to R271.07. Despite this, I was informed that my account was billed again on the 1st of October for R110.86. From the 1st of October, I had been contacting Telkom to request account details for payment. Agent Baloyi M informed me of the outstanding balance and transferred me to the accounts department, where I spoke to agent Stotetsi.

I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service and stated that I wanted to settle the account and have nothing further to do with Telkom. She mentioned that the account would still be billed for October, to which I responded that I would pay, but I didn’t want to pay for nothing (as I wasn’t receiving the services I paid for). She assured me that the SIM would be canceled at the end of October and gave me a cancellation number ***A). However, I didn’t receive the banking details as promised.

I followed up with multiple calls after not receiving the details. On the same day, I called again to inquire why my line was still closed and to request the banking details (Agent R Semisi was handling the call), but again, I didn’t receive an email. On the 3rd of October, I requested the banking details once more (Agent Mlobi assisted this time). I appreciated that she was the first agent to apologize for my dissatisfaction, which I commended her for. I also asked if I could get the data I had paid for, including what had accumulated from previous months. She escalated the matter and finally sent the banking details, after which I made the payment on the 3rd of October at 13:25.

On the 4th of October, I received a "NOTICE OF JUDGMENT" message, despite having paid. I contacted Telkom again, and the agent informed me that the payment had not yet reflected and that it would take 24 to 48 working hours. I called on the 8th to inquire why I still could not use my data. The agent (Gonste) assured me the issue would be escalated. Nothing was done still.

On the 12th of October, I contacted Telkom once more, stating that I had settled my account and asking why I still couldn’t use my data. The agent advised me to restart my phone and wait for five hours, as the data should reflect (the agent was Mhlongo M). However, 1 pm came and went, and still, I had no access to the data I had paid for and accumulated.

On the 14th of October, I called yet again to ask why I was still unable to use my data. The agent informed me that the SIM had been canceled, and the services were suspended. I was told the SIM could be reinstated, but the services would no longer be available. Why make customers pay for no service. This company is the worst!!!!. Further more in December. I received a statement stating that I owe them money. How when I cancelled the Sim and didn't receive the service for my payment and still I need to pay. What kind of company is this that makes customers pay for nothing.

My question to the company is: Is this fair treatment of your customers? How do you expect clients to pay for services they never received? I requested this matter to be resolved several times, still nothing now I owe the company again. What kind of **** is this company running.

Furthermore, isn't paying off arrears a sign of willingness to settle a debt? So why did I have to endure harassment and receive demand letters despite attempting to clear my account? As a customer, I deserve better service and to get my money's worth. But No that was not the case here. So people beware!!!!!
