Brought down by consultants who know nothing!
I have two contracts with telkom. As my son left me I decided to buy out his contract which has only 4 months left. I called the call centre on 24 January, the consultant said to me the cost of the handset only for the next few months is R605. 00. I decided to pay this bill and place my notice to cancel the contract. I called the call centre the following day. Another consultant said to me I need to fill in a cancelation online and list my reasons. I filled one in, she talked me through the process and I made a note on comments that I would like to buy out the contract by paying for the handset for the duration of the contract. Since my son moved out and due to in-house family drama I felt he doesn't deserve the airtime and data, so I wanted to cancel the airtime and data going to his phone. After two consultants confirmed I could do this, I moved ahead. I called the call centre again last week, only to be told the cancelation has been processed, someone will call me to confirm cancelation and the is a cancelation penalty. I said to the lady no one advised me of this. In fact all they said is I can pay for the handset for the duration of the contract and cancel thereafter. Now I get a bill of the remaining amount of the contract and penalty fees which are exorbitant. Today I contacted a consultant, only to be told i cannot reinstate the contract neither can I pay only for the handset and clear the duration. Up until now I have no received a call from telkom as advised by the consultants. Telkom, do not make money out of innocent people. Teach and train your consultants to give the correct information when we call you, because we don't work for telkom so we won't know the ts and cs. I refuse to pay such a huge bill. If you are unable to charge me for the handset for the duration of the contract then I suggest you reinstate the contract. I will not be made a fool of. This is purely because my son decided to leave his mom.
