BREACH OF CONTRACT AT TELKOM CAVENDISH CAPE TOWN

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the service I received at your Cavendish branch, as well as the conduct of two staff members: Ms. Angelique Kannemeyer and Mr. Alysa Gamieldien.

On 29 May 2025, I visited the Cavendish branch to cancel one of the contracts linked to my mobile line. I was assisted by Ms. Angelique Kannemeyer, who confirmed that the cancellation had been successfully processed. However, two months later, I received a statement indicating that I owe R13,200, allegedly due to the cancellation of the contract. This is unacceptable and appears to be a breach of contract.

In addition, I contacted the branch telephonically on Sunday, where I was informed that I was speaking to the manager on duty. During the call, I provided my cellphone number, and the individual proceeded to disclose personal information without conducting any verification checks. Despite my objections and warnings that this was a violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the manager continued to share confidential information, including with my sister, again without any verification.

This conduct is not only unprofessional but also a serious breach of data protection laws. I am extremely concerned about the lack of accountability and the apparent disregard for customer privacy and legal compliance.

I am formally requesting the following:

- A detailed explanation as to why my contract was cancelled and who authorized it.

- Clarification on who is responsible for the R13,200 now reflected on my account.

-Immediate action and accountability regarding Mr. Alysa Gamieldien, who disclosed personal information to my sister without proper verification.

- Contact details (email address and/or phone number) for your regional or area manager, as I wish to escalate this matter further.

I expect a prompt and thorough response.

Please note that I will not be engaging further with the Cavendish branch or its staff. I insist on dealing directly with senior management.
