Billing of Acc ***

I have had a contract with Telkom Mobile for a number of years. I had a router and a phone. I took a second router as the first one was damaged but I continued to pay for it until the term was over. I told them to cancel my contract for the first router as it was no longer required. They never cancelled it until it was time for the next upgrade. That was the only time I found out that they continued to debit my account with more items that it should be. I was not getting a statement all along as I trusted them with my account (they have my email address).

I eventually got it cancelled as I kept them on the line until they sent a Ref No. On the 30th June when this request was made, I requested that they have my devices on Zero Spend limit. I wanted my account. to be kept on R500.00 maximum so I added some monthly minutes to ensure that I could continue to make calls even if the included minutes are finished, router capped. That was not done and I ended up having to pay R1897.97 in July of which I thought maybe there is a cancellation fee as I had recently cancelled a contract. Nonetheless, I paid R1150.00 at Pick n at the beginning of August as it was requested, meaning that I was left with R700 and some few rands. I was surprised when I received a statement for August stating that I owe R1890 while I have been staying at work that I recently returned to on 04th Aug, the entire August, router switched off, did not have to make calls.

I called Telkom Mobile and spoke to Makhosonke Radebe who sounded annoyed with my questions when I queried my statement. He told me that the payment of R1150.00 was showing on my statement but he could not explain the bill except saying it is my monthly spend (how if my devices are R230.00 and R139 per month). I continued to inform him that I did not use my account and he just hanged up on me. I thought maybe he would call back as he had my numbers. No call until today.

Few days after the call I received a statement dated 01 Sept 2020 with the adjustment of R1890.29, Charges for August at R754.18 which sounded about right. Not really because they charged me R202.70 which is an admin fee when your debit order bounces (check on their website) but they named it Once Off Account Subscription Fee. Of course the debit order was going to bounce back as they were charging more than the amount they had to debit. Why is it charged to me.

Now , the interesting part is that at 17h18 this evening I received an SMS saying I owe them R2644.47 when I did not use the account again, except for less that 2 hours in total for the month of September as I am still staying at work with free Wifi, Free Calls. What is it for?

I have not had any joy with my contract with this company. Please check your statements. Well I think its time I send the to the ombudsman as they do not allow you to speak to managers or just drop the calls on you.
