Billing me for Telkom's error - REF ***5

In November 2016 I took out a Data plan with telkom: 5GB for R149 per month. In August 2017, I was startled to see a bill for R649. I queried this (and my telephone call is recorded) only to find that there is a R500 limit automatically in place should you exceed the 5GB monthly usage. I instructed telkom to remove this immediately and once my limit of 5GB at R149 is exceeded, I should not be allowed any more data. The instruction was carried out to my knowledge. I had no right to apply for a refund because I should have checked that R500 clause so accepted this.

In January 2018, I was slapped with another R649 debit order. I called Telkom on the 08 February 2018 to log this complaint and logged in online to make sure that I personally change this setting so that I wouldn't be charged this amount again (because clearly Telkom doesn't take instruction). The lady who dealt with the complaint even agreed that I had given this instruction in Aug 2017 and once we escalate it, I will most likely be refunded. On 11 Feb 2018, I receive a message to indicate that my query was resolved: no resolution indicated and no refund received.

I called this morning (22 Feb 2018) at around 07h25 to hear that no refund is forthcoming. So I have been billed because Telkom made a billing error. I find this ********* and if Telkom's expects the consumer to sit back and just pay for their sheer incompetence, I assure you, you have another thing coming. Word of mouth is a powerful tool and taking one's business elsewhere and encouraging friends and family to do the same, is even more powerful. So choose wisely before you respond to me saying that no refund is forthcoming. I await your response with great anticipation.

Further to the above, I checked my online profile to find that the R500 limit is still in place. The staff at Telkom: Thato, that I spoke to at 08h24 (22 Feb 2018) this morning, has adjusted my limit to R1-00 as apparently it can't be R0-00 (will come into effect from 01 March 2018 only), which no consultant at Telkom was able to communicate thus far. Instead, they just told me my request was actioned, which it was not. What was most interesting is that Thato only picked up my February 2018 call in his records and not the request from last year August 2017. He hesitated to give me an outlet for complaints and gave me a managers details to email only after I was extremely agitated. I don't wish to email this manager and waste my time further. I hope to get a response from someone who wants to provide ethical and good service to customers who are good payers.

Dear Garreth, Further to the above query, another month and once again I've been debited an amount of R375. I will be instructing my bank to stop the automatic debit order to telkom with immediate effect. I would like you to please release me from this contract as I can't continuously be paying for services that I haven't used - this is *******. I'm going to look into legal action if necessary.

Dear Garreth, I called Telkom mobile this morning once again and spoke to Andile Mqadi at 07h30 (03 April 2018). The story this morning is that when you cap your limit in March it only becomes effective from the 01 April 2018. Apparently debit orders can't be cancelled and Andile assures me that I won't be charged a cent more than my limit of R149. I've heard the same story in August 2017 and then again in February 2018. My question is when can I cancel this contract without any additional fees incurred and what the process to do this is?
