Billed for cancelled account & POSSIBLE SUMMONS
I cancelled my Telkom account on 3 Feb 2014, effective 28 Feb 2014, 30 days notice in writing (consumer protection act only requires 20 day notice be applicable). I then received a combined bill for February usage plus March rental. I attempted to contact Telkom to obtain only the February usage (as I was not liable for the March rental with the account having been cancelled effective 28 Feb), but was unable to obtain account on numerous occasions. No one from Telkom contacted myself and the next person to make contact in this matter was an appointed Debt Collector who informed me that I was now liable for the combined bill of Feb and March, and the legal fees incurred by Telkom for the appointed Debt Collector. I explained the situation to the Debt collector, provided them with copies of the cancellation request.<br> I finally receive a breakdown statement on the 4 March 2015 (1 year later). I also receive an sms advising that I will be receiving a summons and that I myself must contact the Debt Collector (very unprofessional). When doing so I explain the situation to Mike the supervisor at the Debt collector who advised me that I am liable for the March rental & Legal Fees. Why?!?!
