BEWARE OF TELKOM – IT IS NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING ITS CLIENTS

After unsuccessfully struggling for months to obtain original tax invoices or certified copies of tax invoices for January-May 2020, which were never received, on my cell phone accounts, it is clear to me that Telkom is not interested in providing the most basic service to its clients even if it is required by a person’s employer, in my case the National Prosecuting Authority.

I have not received any Telkom accounts sent to me via email or per post for January, February, March, April and May 2020. In this time the postal services were bad, Covid-19 could have impacted on this, I don’t know. The fact is that I have not received any of those invoices from Telkom. My employer requires me to provide it with an original tax invoice or a tax invoice which is certified to be a true copy of the original before it will consider my claims. How difficult can this be to comply with such a request?

I have attempted on numerous occasions over the past six months to comply with my employer’s requirements to resolve this problem. • I have visited my Telkom branch on three separate occasions but was told that they cannot help me. • I have attempted to email Telkom but it is making it as difficult as humanly possible to obtain any email address which is monitored and when you get a standard response it is merely to say that you are unlikely to receive a reply any time soon because of Covid-19. Except in one instance when I received a response to send the email to another address, I received no feedback on my emails. Even an email to the CEO of Telkom, Mr Maseko, was not deemed worthy even an admission of receipt. • I have phoned customer services on about 5 occasions and are no further than day one. At customer services, I was told that a team leader will come back to me within a few days, and they have never done so. I have been given no reference number for follow up which means that I must every time repeat my story right from the start.

If you are employed by the Government and need to claim back, you need to think twice before entering into a contract with Telkom.
