Beware of Telkom!!!
I have various complaints about Telkom for the past year. They charge a ridiculous rejection fee. I took out a contract for R199 and when money was not available for the debit order, they charged me R200.94. How do you explain that? When I asked for assistance, I was told it is standard and Telkom can do nothing about it. I then paid the rejection fee and avoided the process by moving my debit date to the 15th. We took out another contract and asked for a spending limit of R0.00. When receiving the bill, the bill amount was the agreed amount plus R300 out of bundle rates. We then put a spending limit on and the following month we were charged R200 out of bundle rates again. Only then the spending limit was set at R0.00. But then another problem popped up and we decided to rather pay EFT. A lady at Key West Shopping Centre told us as long as payment is made before the 10th of the month we will not be charged. Every month, as soon as we receive our bills, we do the transfer, but still we get charged R200.94. As soon as salaries gets paid in, they debit our account with that amount. We have cancelled the debit orders at the bank, but still they request a debit order. They are such *****s, they change the reference number every month to avoid debit orders to be cancelled. They are very eager to take your money, but you have to beg for your bills on a monthly basis. We received one bill on the 13th November, just two days before our debit date. The bill amount was different to the amount we agreed on when taking out the contract. How must we foresee for the extra amounts? They promise they will sort it out and that is the last you hear from them.
