Being ********** by Telkom as always
On 22 March 2017 I took out a contract with Telkom at Cresta, upon enquiring on when I will be due for an upgrade,I was told my contract would expire on 19 May 2019 as per their system. I then asked how can this be corrected,I was advised that I would need to submit my documents that had the March 22 date. I did as advised, however, after 2 cases that were opened on my behalf and closed without any communication whatsoever ,even though I was told I would get an sms to advise on the outcome of the cases,I was told “sorry there’s nothing we can do for you.”
Now on 11 March 2019,after communication with Neo Ntsioa,Sethu Maqhaj and Slindile amongst others as well as consulting at Telkom Mall of The South,I’m told Telkom cannot assist me and I need to go back to where I took my contract, even though I was advised on the numerous calls to Telkom that there was no need for me to go to the store and would be assisted by submitting my docs. I no longer work in the vicinity where I took the contract, therefore unable to go to the store as required. After months(from December 2018) of trying to sort this out and getting no joy,I asked to speak to a manager when I called in today and Eugene Mkhwa**** advised that there is nothing they can do to assist me even though I have documents proving that my contract ends on the 22 March. He also advised that if I don’t go to the store, which he cannot guarantee either that they will be able to assist me,I would be liable for any costs incurred on the contract post my document date and will be charged by what is on the system. At the store(Mall of the South) they could view the correct date and also advised they would have to escalate my query,to which I still have no response on.
I’m left to feel that Telkom is ripping me off despite being in possession of a legal document that they had me sign with an expiry date, then they tell me they will charge me an extra 2months because they were negligent and extended my contract by error. I can’t go to their store to try and have this sorted (a good 80-90km away,at my cost). I will be escalating this with the Ombudsman as I find it to be unfair business practice that Telkom cannot assist me on their mishap and I then have to carry costs of all this that they have caused,in what ever instance,I stand to be inconvenienced because Telkom does not care about customers but rather how deep their pockets are.
