Being charged for Telkom's mistakes

My information is as follows:

Name: Dian van Schalkwyk
Case number: ********** 9

Let me explain what happened so that you can see that Telkom is charging me for mistakes they made:

Contract 1:

I went to get a SIM-ONLY FreeMe Unlimited deal at a Telkom Mobile branch at Menlyn Pretoria. I ported my Vodacom number to the new contract.

When I got home I saw on the contract that they set the SIM-ONLY contract on a 24 month period. SIM-ONLY is month-to-month as I requested. The next day I went to the same branch to change the 24 month period to month-to-month. They told me it CAN NOT be done. They need to cancel the 24 month contract and give me a new month-to-month contract. So they requested the contract to be cancelled.

Contract 2:

They gave me a new SIM-ONLY FreeMe Unlimited month-to-month contract. They ported the number from contract 1 to contract 2.

After a week I received an sms saying my contract has been cancelled. So Telkom made the mistake of cancelling contract 2 instead of cancelling contract 1. So then I was stuck without any contract. Contract 2 was cancelled and contract 1 was left open. I didn’t even have the sim card for contract 1 anymore because it was thrown away when Telkom gave me the sim card for contract 2.

Contract 3:

I went to Telkom Mobile and they said the only thing they can do is to give me another new contract. And again we put in a request for contract 1 to be cancelled. They gave me a new SIM-ONLY FreeMe Unlimited month-to-month contract and the sim card for contract 2 was thrown away.

Now all of a sudden Telkom is charging me for ALL 3 OF THE CONTRACTS. I received a bill in April for R4,299.31. On the bill it says I have 3 FreeMe Unlimited contracts. I only have ONE sim card and ONE number.

I contacted customer service and they logged a case. They said they will credit me with R741.19. Which is ridiculous because I’m still being charged for THREE CONTRACTS. I explained to them what happened and they opened a new case (case number ********** 9) where they said they are going to credit me with and amount of about R3500 (can’t remember the exact amount) instead of R741.19.

Case ********** 9 was opened on the 7th April 2017. The case is still open and no one has bothered to contact me regarding the case after a month has passed.

Now in May I received a new bill charging me R5561.08. They are charging me the previous months R4299.31 minus the R741.19 credit plus another R2002.96 for TWO FreeMe Unlimited contracts.

On the 5th of May a debit order went down on my bank account for R3558.

Keep in mind al the contracts were changed within the 7 day cool of period which BY LAW states that no charges can be app**** to the customer. I would think especially if I didn’t do anything wrong.

So now there is still 2 contracts open in my name. And I’m still being charged for Telkoms mistakes.

I have only ONE contract and ONE sim card.
