Be aware: Telkom makes it impossible to terminate your mobile contract early

A contract was taken out for cell *** whichexpire towards July 2025.

The customer emigrated from SA early in June 2025 and advised Telkom to terminate early, and is willing to pay early termination fee on receiving such termination invoice from Telkom.

It is impossible to get Telkom to do this. For the last 3 months we have tried and Telkom incompetence and internal polcies at Telkom prevents this. We want to do the right 5hing but Teljom dont cancel stop orders.

We have to the Ballito Junction Telkom shop where the contract was entered in, they cannot cancel or terminate and gave us a number to phone.

We have for the last few weeks literally spent hours on the phone trying to achieve this one lady terminated the account under reference no ***A

Today 9 Jun 25 i tried for the 7th time and spoke to Guguletha Jakia around 8.50Am and to Katy Scheepers around 9 .55 AM. All we need is someone to tell us the early termination fee and how we can pay this to stop further Telkom debit orders, as banking accounts used for this will be closed as owner emigrated. A legal person was authorised and legally appointed to act on matters like these for the emigrant, but despite emigrant being at Ballito Telkom store several times, and many phone calls prior to departure from SA Yelkom has failed to record this, andapears unwilling to enable the early termination

We went to customer bank account holder and assigned authority for someone to act on the account once emigrant exit SA. Yelkom refuses to acknowledge that legal right We tried everything, but despite numerous queries or complaints nothing gets done and Telkom continues to raise debit orders for this account despite it being cancelled. Now on the account holder has left SA, and the legally appointed person with authority 5o act on such matters is not allowed by Teljom to do so. They wont even speak with him to allow their customer the legal right to terminate eatly and pay the termination fee
