Bad service

Telkom Complaint: Upgrade I currently have a Telkom WIFI for the deal of 20 GIG when I took it, the deal was for R199. On the 10th November 2018, I visited Telkom Mall of the South to enquire on an upgrade. The lady by the name of Nadia assisted me. She checked if I qualified and told me I’m on my 14 month in my contract, for an upgrade I would have to pay a penalty fee of +-R400. I said it was ok and she can continue as I wanted the 24hr WIFI. She made me sign the contract on the signature pad and nothing was explained with regards to the contract. She told me I would have to sign on the signature box and she brought a from that had about +-10 ticked items and said please sign at the bottom. I eventually asked what was the amount for the 24hr contract, she mentioned it was R899. On the 12TH November 2018, I went to the very same store and asked them to cancel the upgrade as my husband has now received more data from his work, meaning I won’t be needing additional data. I was told no you cannot cancel as according to CPA, the customer is not allowed to return the item, ie the WIFI still sealed in the box. I then requested to speak to the manager, who sounded like a recording more than a human being. This was quite a shock to me that I’m not allowed to return an item before the 5 day cooling period which I’m aware that as a consumer, I have the right to return the product in its good condition. I also checked my App to see if the new contract of R800 has been effected and as I’m writing this mail at 09:11 am the new contract is not active but rather my old one which I’ve asked to remain with. I then said what does one have to do to be out of this contract, the guy said they’ll charge some pro rata and 3x the R899 for the new contract. This is where I realized that I’m dealing with a company that does not have the consumer’s best interest but rather they use each opportunity to **** people by asking for unrealistic amounts to cancel contracts. My expected outcome is that Telkom cancels the R899 unlimited data contract and reinstate the R199 contract that I original had. I understand if they were claim initiation fee or admin fee to opening the account but that on its own would be wrong because the new deal is not even active. The manager gave a number to call 10210 of which I held for over 5min and I decided to put the phone down and this happened on the 12th November at 11:04 and again today the 13th November but there is no one answering except for the repetition on the recording from their side. The manager could not even provide me with an e-mail adresss, saying the call centre will provide me with all the information. How is it that Telkom can treat customers with so much disrespect and yet they claim to be an authorized Credit provider. I intentionally gave you their sales process, so that you can see that they don’t even explain to the customer the content of the product and no clear explanation of the contract. That is quite ***** and to me no wonder they have brain washed their staff to speak like robots in ******** people.
