Hi
Unfortunately we have no control over cable theft or this type of crime.
Cable faults usually take a bit of time that ordinary faults because of issues around it. For example, technician must first be dispatched and if finds out cables have been ****** then, a case must be reported to the police station, Other technicians must evaluate the extent of the damage such as the description of the cable, if its 100m or 150m and so on, type of cable 1600 pair, 2400 pair and so on, and many other factors. History of cable theft in that area and then telkom will have to decide if the cable should be replaced or convert the whole area to wireless services. If the cable will be replaced, then the equipment will be ordered. If it is an underground cable, the contractors will be tasked to dig, cables jointed after that, then a filed technician be dispatched again to further assist. These are just highlights of the processes involved in replacing ****** equipment.
Telkom introduced an integrated sim card that you can use while your line is down. At least this should keep you connected while we are busy fixing the fault. Sometimes cables replaced today and ****** again the same day, it is quite a big problem.
In this ref jointing was completed but on the 7th of August, a field technician has handed over back to TBI (People who deal with equipment replacement). There is no further update at the moment.
