Bad Practise from Telkom Fibre

I sold my house around the time My Fibre contract ended in Mar/Apr and my understanding was that it falls off automatically. To my surprise now i want to take up a new contract at my new house, am now told i owe the months that i wasn't using the fiber since i was automatically put on a month to month. Apparently i should have known when the services were paused, which i didn't as i wasn't using the services.
