Atrocious Service!!!

I had an existing month-to-month data contract with Telkom Mobile for over two years and was contacted by their sales agent in March (2016) offering an upgrade. I decided to try this out as I was advised that the connection would be faster as the upgrade featured a wireless LTE router.

Upon upgrading, I no longer had access to my previous data contract therefore had to wait for delivery of the new device. when received, i tested this out at home and found that I was still unable to pick up a signal as my apartment had limited/no coverage making the device useless. I had called the call centre and cancelled this upgrade within the "cooling off" period and sent through the relevant documentation to the cancellations department.

Regardless of the above, Telkom proceeded to debit my account forcing me to request my bank to block or stop these debits, which proved to be unsuccessful as Telkom continuously changed the details and amounts debited. As a result I then had to resort to calling my bank and reversing the debits that continued to go off irrespective of numerous communication between myself and Telkom's call centre agents.

I was advised that in order to query an account I would have to continue to speak to the call centre agents, who would refer the matter to billing, as there was no other way to liaise with Telkom's billing department directly.

This continued until July (2016). At the beginning of the month of August, I received a text message from NuDebt Management regarding my "outstanding" Telkom account and advised that failure to pay would result in me being referred to the credit bureau to be blacklisted. They then debited my account for the amount of R597. I contacted their customer care agents and advised them of the situation and sent through copies of the countless emails sent to Telkom along with the case number provided to me as proof of my cancellation. The agent, Sanele, advised me that my query has been sent to Telkom and that unfortunately I would have to claim reimbur*****t from Telkom directly.

Once again, I contacted Telkom and was advised that I would be contacted regarding my case. A telkom rep, Lesego, contacted me and I explained the situation to him once again, he provided me with another case number and then advised that this should be resolved within 7-14 working days.

On the 12th September I received an email from the Account Queries department at NuDebt, advising me that Telkom has confirmed cancellation and would like them to remove my account from Collections. Based on this email, I was under the assumption that Telkom had finally processed the cancellation and I would be reimbursed shortly.

Much to my dismay, on the 15th September (2016), I received an sms notification from Standard Bank regarding a debit order that had gone off from Telkom for the amount of R796. I then contacted Telkom and spoke to their customer service agent, Lungile Mdlalose, who advised that the cancellation has still not been confirmed and processed on y account and that was the reason for the debit. She acknowledged it had taken more than 14 working days and could not understand what was the reason for this. She also advised me that she had sent an email to the agent/person handling my case as well as her superior/manager and would get back to me with feedback when she received some.

Unfortunately, due to Telkom's atrocious service, I am unable to continue reversing transactions as this is now a poor reflection on my credit rating, any further reversals would only prove to be more detrimental.

At this moment, I am at the mercy of Telkom's incompetence and have been severely inconvenienced as a result.
