ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO COMPLEETE AN ORDER

Once again I am reminded of how bad the service is at Telkom. I placed my order for a new line to be installed on the 8th of March. A week went by and I did not get any feedback from them I then phoned on the 17th to find out what was going on and I was greeted with an update that suggested that the order was complete even though no one from Telkom had come to my property or even updated me on the order.

Anyways I proceeded to place a brand new order on the 17th then it was agreed that the technician will come out on the 27th. The tech came out and was mainly working at the exchange testing the link to my house. Long story short I was told that there is now a problem with the port at the exchange and that there are no available ports for me to move to and that the fault will now be escalated to the cables department.

This is where this whole situation gets frustrating because if you have ever worked with telkom before you know that when they say the fault is with cables it is lost in the void. You cannot for some reason get an update on a order or fault if it is with cables, why this is the case I dont know but its one of the many things I find really annoying when it comes to dealing with Telkom it should be as easy as phoning cables and asking for an update surely this cant be that difficult.

Anyways to get back to my story, I have phoned Telkom every week since the 27th March up until today and I have recieved no update or feedback or estimate time of completion not a single word from them. Every time I phone them its always the same thing "Sorry sir its with cables department and we have not had an update yet" oh and ofcourse how can I forget, the false promise of having it escalated to a service manager or manager and being told that the manager will contact you before the end of the day. I have this promised to me so many times and I am still waiting for that call.

I need my internet line for work and at the rate this is going I will only have internet again a month before my lease is up. I find it really frustrating to deal with Telkom because nothing ever goes smoothly there are always complications and when you are paying 1300 rand for instalation and pro-rata costs the least one can ask for is good service or at least the piece of mind that your order or fault is actualy being worked on.

I find it difficult giving this amount of money to a company when I dont even feel like they deserve my business but yet again we are faced with the problem where there is no one else to turn to we have no choice but to go with Telkom because they are the only people who manage our ADSL lines.

If you come to my business and your CV says Telkom, Im not employing you is all Im saying. Telkom you have 11 000 staff left I suggest you change something before you loose another 5 000.

Thanks
