Alberton New market and Alberton City service review one star
I was not very happy with the service I got at the Telkom stores in Alberton, namely New Market and Alberton city stores. On Friday the 8th I went to the store to enquire about a sim swap as well as blacklisting a lost device. The gentleman (did not get his name) on shift at the time told me I needed to come back the following day to unsuspend the sim so he can assist with a sim swap. I was not able to and came back on Sunday the 10th of March with the expectation of being assisted like I was promised the whole staff that was working there on that day were hurdled up at the door and said they can't assist with unsuspending my sim and that I need to visit the Alberton city store for that. You can imagine my shock because I was told to return with the promise of getting assisted but now I'm being redirected to another with no explanation as to why. Fine I visit the store in Alberton city store and I was assisted by a gentleman named Tau, I ask him to assist with unsuspending my sim and with a sim swap and he tells me I need to call for that myself and then come back to the store so he can assist with the sim swap. At this point I express my annoyance to him and explain that I was told to come to this store for assistance and now he's redirecting me to the phone with no interest in assisting and he told me they were supposed to help me at the store I was at because they know the process is to call however he himself seemed unwilling to follow the said process himself. I asked to borrow a phone so I can call(because I lost my phone) like he's asking me to cause I just want a sim swap and I don't know why I have to go through pillar to post for a mere sim swap. And the gentleman said he can't borrow me a phone because he uses MTN and asked if my partner (whom I was with at the time) doesn't use Telkom so I can call using her phone. I did as suggested but still didn't understand why he couldn't assist with a phone. I was assisted by a nice lady over the phone and told her that I was actually at a Telkom store and she herself was shocked at why I was not getting assisted in store. Look, I wasn't expecting 5 star service but I at least expected that I would be assisted with my primary need without having to visit two stores and jumping hoops for a sim swap. I'm not asking for anyone to be disciplined or anything of that nature but kindly look into your service model and maybe get people who are willing to assist as they work in client service. I felt like I was inconveniencing people by asking them to assist me. It was not an enjoyable experience
