After a year telkom contract still not cancelled

I cancelled my Telkom Mobile Contract in October 2015, it was then said to me that there is some arrears on my account which I then dealt with can cancelled it in November 2015 on basis I do not want to renew my contract and would like to keep my numbers on prepaid. It was then said to me that I must wait for a call to confirm the cancellation and it will be cancelled in 21days. I waited for the call but it was never received, I went back into store in December 2015 and I was advised that I cannot contact the cancellations department and they logged a case. Shortly hereafter I disposed the sim cards as I saw that it was not returned to prepaid. I have ever since been in and out of Telkom to try and rectify the cancellation status with no success. I currently still receive monthly statements on my email on this account. Recently I received a credit report on which amazingly it reflects 2 defaults from Telkom SA on my name which I have no idea of as the statements I am emailed does not even reflect this on.

Now at this stage I am fed up of dealing with Telkom, it costs me so much to go into a store constantly, as well as even call to try and sort this out. When I app**** for this contract I went into a store where I signed a document to take out this contract, exactly the same way I went into a store and I signed a form to cancel the contract (I still have the documentation to prove this) . Now I refuse to pay anything which reflects against my name at Telkom from the date of my cancellation which dates 15/11/2015, I did what was required to do and I have the documentation to back this up.

I have even been dragged to lawyers by Telkom with no success as they had also closed their accounts with me since I have sent them these documentation stating the cancellation of my contract. The thing I also do not understand about Telkom is why still run a contract and not suspend it, add fees month after month when It is so clear that the account is not being paid.

I currently speak under correction but at this stage this seems more to me like a money making scheme where the cancellation of the contract is never processed and customer is forced to continuously pay. According to my understanding and just a few pointers which popped up whilst reading through the consumer protection act, "the customer should give written confirmation to the cancellation of a fixed term contract " , just the opposite as what said in the protection act has been displayed in this contract therefore this is my last option to get this contract cancelled and off my name as I am seriously frustrated at this stage, and it is currently affecting my credit status which I find to be ******** at this stage.

I hope this grabs someone’s attention and that I will hopefully get a prompt response on this.
