After 3 attempts to obtain a Telkom phone line, they have dropped all my information and now have to start again...

<p>I have been Telkom free since 1997, initially using GPRS for data, and subsequently 3G from Vodacom, MTN and CellC but now require low latency internet connectivity and therefore MUST have a landline provided by TELKOM.</p> <p> </p> <p>So my saga started on 13 May 2017. Thinking the Telkom of the past has come of age with their website looking all modern. I quickly completed the online form requesting my details, and even received an SMS confirming that everything was in progress and that someone will phone me within 48 hrs. No one phoned but I did receive an SMS on 18 May indicating that I have been "approved during our prevetting stage"</p> <p> </p> <p>As nothing happened, I had to phone in to try and find out what the progress is, just to be told that nothing is on the system.....And that is how attempt number 2 started. This time I even requested that it should be deducted via debit order and received a reference number ********** -2017/05/22. It even this time round included a contact number of I would like to follow up: 0 ********** 130.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thus after 2 weeks of no further contact, I phoned the 0 ********** 130 number, just to be told it is the wrong number. I should rather phone 1023. </p> <p> </p> <p>Phoning 1023 this afternoon 2 Jun 2017 14h12, I was once again told that there is nothing on the system? Even when using the reference number from above there was nothing on the system. When requesting to speak to her supervisor, I had to hold one again.</p> <p> </p> <p>After a while, she came back and indicated the supervisor is busy and requested the reference number again. This time she managed to trace it to "another system" but she does not have access to it.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have concluded by requesting that the Supervisor phone me back, but seeing as this is Friday today, I doubt that Telkom will be phoning me.</p> <p> </p> <p>If I just had an alternative in Lephalale, ideally FTTH... Maybe I should rather try one of the wireless internet providers in the area.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>

Bronwyn from Telkom did contact me on HelloPeter, to indicate that it ws escalated and that it should be resolved.

I then received a phone call indicating that they understand that I would like a telephone line installed as they received an application via the internet (it was't clear if this was Bronwyn or my previous attempts at getting a phone line installed). Due to all the problems up to now I indicated that I did not want a debit order, and that's when they indicated that all internet applications must be debit order based and they need my back account details. Obviously I refused and asked to speak to his supervisor. The operator indicated that unfortunately the supervisor is busy and can't assist. I then asked that his supervisors phone me.....

After not receiving any further feedback from Telkom, I opted to try one more time at the insistence of my wife.

As the Telkom online system did not provide any results I decided to use the phone to phone the phone company to order a phone line. I eventually managed to find the correct number 10213 with the order placed quickly and efficiently over the phone. The operator indicated that a technician would phone me within 2 weeks to install the line. That was the afternoon of Thursday 8 June 16h13.

Things were looking good and I was optimistic that finally I spoke to someone that would be able to assist. I was very happy as it appeared that I finally made progress to obtain a phone line from the phone company Telkom.

But as I did not receive a call nor the installation after 2 weeks, I opted to phone again on 22 June to query what happened. That's when it was shared with me that the system is showing an appointment for the installation had been scheduled for 27 June. Not wanting to derail anything I just said thank-you.

Fast froward to installation day 27 June.

I received a phone call around 8h00 from Joseph to indicate that he will be coming to install the line today. I indiicated that yes, I'll be waiting expeting him to arrive still the morning. Iwaited till around 11h00 and but then had to leave for a business trip.

TheTechnician, Joseph finally arrived today around 13h00. He spoke with my wife and after inspecting the premesis, indicated that there is no sleeve for him to install the cable and would phone me to discuss as Telkom does not install sleeves.

Unfortuanly I have not received a call from Telkom now to discuss how this should be done. Not sure why Telkom, s the phone company, does not install whatever they need to install to install the phone line. Isn't that what the phone company is supposed to do???

May I please ask that someone phone me to have this resolved.

I have now lost a month waiting for the phone company Telkom to install a phone line and really need to know if it is not possible for the phone company Telkom to install a telephone line?
