ADSL out
Reference number 670CRK101115 refers: Around early afternoon on the 10th of September, it would seem the Johannesburg heat and dry conditions caused Telkom lines to go faulty. I reported this and I was given reference number 670CRK101115. The telephone line part was this fixed (or it came back on its own, one never knows with Telkom). Unfortunately the ADSL portion has not been back. Several requests solicit the same lame response (we are checking on the problem). It has been 21 hours since they started saying they are doing this and so far nothing concrete has been communicated. In the meantime, we have no access to ADSL and we are not wiser whether the problem is ADSL related or router related. Surprisingly, we are only 2 minutes away from the Bromhof hub and yet even a snail would have arrived at our house by now if it avoided being melted by the heat. I am presently being kept waiting by the online Help (Shuping Lasabe and it is 10 minutes since he confirmed checking the reference number). At the very least, one needs to know if there is a temporary or permanent problem and the likelihood it will be fixed in my lifetime, otherwise I need alternatives
