ADSL Line is being held hostage

On the 24'th of April I emailed a request to cancel my ADSL line and release it back into the pool because I wish to transfer it to my ISP. I get an autoresponce from Telkom that the email was received, but would have to wait 20 working days to get a responce.

It's now the 22'nd of May, and I've not heard anything from telkom. I call, but 10210 doesn't work "This number does not exist". I find a "Chat" option off the telkom site, I finally reach someone off the chat site, and explain that "10210" doesn't work, and is cheeky enough to tell my "No, you should call 10213", which I know for a fact is Sales, and also entirely not the point. I explain my situation, only to have the agent repeat to me, I need to call "10213" for them to assist me. I do... Lo and behold, it's sales and they can't help me!

I eventually manage to get to 10210, to reach a very rude agent. Admitantly, I was brisk at this point due to my frustrating corresponce, where she then lectures me about having to wait a full month, and not to be so to take out my frustation with agents. At no point was I disrepspectful or got personal. This in itself is terrible customer service. Apart from this, she immediatly assumed that I was just being hasty, and that "You have to wait a full month". After arguing with her, and getting her to check the system, she confirmed my worst fear, there are no pending cancellations. The call had to be escallated to a supervisor, and I would have to wait 3 business days for feedback. I'm sorry, but I followed your process, and I've waited a month, and I'm going to wait another 3 days for something telkom messed up. I asked to speak to a supervisor, only to have the call dropped.

Call number 3, I eventually get through to a much more helpful lady, but I get told the same story. Need to escallate, and need to wait three days to wait for feedback. After once again asking to speak to a supervisor, I get told that they are all busy, and that they would call me back.

No such call has happened. I feel entirely frustrated that I'm being stonewalled, I can't get my ADSL line cancelled, and I can't speak to anyone to resolve this. So this is the only way I know that is left for me to take action againts Telkom.

In summary, avoid Telkom at all costs, they don't give a hoot about customers since they are the only fixed line operators in SA.
