ADSL - Are Telkom Dishonest, ***********, or Both?

<p>I am forced to write this because I cannot find someone at Telkom who is willing or able to address my issue.</p> <p> I am paying for a 10 MB ADSL line, but my download speed currently ranges from 2.2 Mb per second to 5.6Mb per second. I have logged numerous faults since April 2017, but Telkom keeps closing them and then sends me messages to rate their service. It is impossible to speak to a supervisor and all I get is empty promises that a supervisor will call me back.</p> <p> The reasons they give for the low connection speed ranges from the fact that, although I am in the Alberton area, “I am too far away from the exchange to connect at 10Mb”, to “the current infrastructure is old and unstable”.</p> <p> As a compromise, Telkom suggested setting me up on an 8 MB line, and I agreed. However, that only lasted for a couple of days before I was back to 4/6MB. Their excuse? It is done automatically at the exchange when poor line quality is detected.</p> <p> What I will say is that Telkom has credited my account for the difference between the cost of a 10MB and 8MB line, but the problem is that now I am not even on an 8MB line.</p> <p> To make matters worse, I can prove that on 10 April this year I was getting a download speed of 8.5 Mb which seems to ******* the claims of poor infrastructure and exchange distance.</p> <p> </p>
