additional charges on the telkom cellphone account

i bought a new cellphone on a telkom contract at the end of September on a new Telkom contract. The contract was R999.00 per month, and you get 10GB of data free for the first 6 months.

I did not use the phone for any calls, and used the sim in a router later during October.

When i received my bill at the end of October, there was another R500.00 added on the account, for 2750 MB of data for when the phone tried to connect to the network.(or so the call centre operator said.)

if i understand correctly, they now charged me for TRYING" to connect to the network, without success ....

what happend to the 10GB i was supposed to get for free?.

i did not authorise them to deduct any more than the R999.00 per month for the phone i did not buy anything extra

that to me is blatant theft.

Can someone please explain to me how this allowed ?
